Thinking about buying a book?   First check "BookFinder.com" or  "Half.com" for the best price on the internet whether looking for a new or used book.

The following book is my personal recommendation, that I own, and frequently refer to for "reminders". Like all the books listed below, Scripters World is not endorsing you to buy, read, or check-out this book. I just wanted to mention it, because of the value it has given to me.

Teach Yourself Screenwriting - Raymond G Frensham 1996

Below is a list of books that the founder, Bob Gill, accumulated from discussions on the Wordplay forums back in November of 1998.   Scripters World is not endorsing these books nor are we recommending you read all of them.   Also, remember that thing called a Library?   They're here for your benefit.   The first few are Ted Elliot's (WORDPLAY) recommendation.

"The screenwriting must reads:

'Adventures in the Screen Trade' by William Goldman
'Story' by Robert McKee
'Screenplay' by Syd Field

Stuff that will make your screenwriting better:

Ergi - THE ART OF DRAMATIC WRITING
Stanislavski - AN ACTOR PREPARES
Gardner - THE ART OF FICTION

And books that make you think about the visual demands of movie storytelling:

Lumet - MAKING MOVIES
Truffault - HITCHCOCK/TRUFFAULT
Cook - HOWARD HAWKS STORYTELLER

Ted Elliot"
