Website security and protection of screenplays are an important issue. Here are SW's recommendations and guidelines:
- The membership areas (SW members index page, SW message board, emails, etc.) are private and not open to the general public. Members are required to keep the private, secure areas private and secure. If we should ever encounter a security problem we will simply "change the locks on the house" and send the remaining members the new key.
- All screenplays and related material (outlines, loglines, etc.) are the responsibility of the author. We recommend you copyright and/or register all pertinent writings.
- WriteSafe.com ($5.00 - 5 yrs {special} / 2 items - $15.00 / 1 item - $10.00)
- National Creative Registry ($18.95)
- ProtectRite ($18.95 for 10 yrs.)
- WGA Registration Services (Mem. $10, Non-mem. $20)
- United States Copyright Office ($30)
- Also check out "Legal & Copyright" on About.com / Screenwriting for a good list of related topics.
- Registered Freshman (not Pre-Freshman) will have access to a special program that is free for students. It's called the SPPS (Script Project Protection System).
